FOLLOW ME Begins, Ash Wednesday, March 2

Ash Wednesday is March 2. Ash Wednesday begins our 40-day Lent plan of FOLLOW ME. In this Beacon, I would like to inform you about this plan, invite you to participate, and challenge you to be present for our Ash Wednesday Service when we will begin!

First, what is the 40-Day “Follow Me” plan? The forty-day plan will offer you a plan printed on a card to follow for the 40 days of Lent. This daily plan can be tucked into your Bible or accessed on your phone, or accessed online. Each day you will find a daily Bible reading and theme for your daily devotion. The plan is versatile and can be followed individually, shared with friends, or a small group study guide.

Copies of this plan will be passed out the night of Ash Wednesday. You can also pick up the plan at church and online. There will also be coordination each Sunday as our sermons will focus on the topic for the week ahead.

Second, I would like to invite everyone to participate. This means we have an opportunity to read the same scripture each day and gravitate around the same theme for forty days. Each day will offer a timely challenge, as well. The inspiration of the Holy Spirit and the synergy of doing something together will bring deeper unity to our congregation. Unity. Is that not a beautiful goal these days!

Third, I would like to challenge everyone to begin together on Ash Wednesday and follow this plan for the next 40 days. Our Ash Wednesday Service could be the most people gathered for an evening service (other than Christmas Eve) this year. So please save the date and plan on being present in person or online for our Ash Wednesday Service.

Finally, what does Follow Me mean? Follow me is taken from the words of Jesus Matthew 4:19 (NIV) “Come Follow Me.” In the 40 days of Lent, we invite and challenge everyone to become a little more like Jesus every day! So let us make plans now to Follow Jesus!

I look forward to sharing this journey with you!

Shalom,
Philip
