Bread House Week 47

Week 47: This week we had 23 new families visit us, representing 99 new individuals touched by the Bread House. A military spouse and mother come to the Bread House for the first time. She was very excited about the services SUMC was providing to the community. After learning about the Bread House, she was told about Blessing for Children (BFC). She went over to BFC to learn more and she said she would share the information with other military families who are struggling.

After receiving our Destin Harvest food drop items on Thursday, Pete and Terry went to their favorite eatery, Whataburger. While waiting in the drive-through line, the girl at the window asked them what they were doing. Pete and Terry said they had been unloading food at the SUMC Bread House. She got so excited. She took off her mask and said, “Do you remember me?” She was one of the first recipients of food when we gave food out from the back of an SUV at the Shalimar Ballfields! She mentioned how helpful that had been to her at the time because she was unable to work. We thanked her and invited her back to see us again! It’s great when you give folks a hand up and they show their appreciation.

Pic 2.  More food in the SUV to give out. After two hours, we would go to the Ballfields in Shalimar to give more food out.
If you have not stopped by the Bread House, please come by any Mon, Wed, or Fri between 9-12. We would love to show you around!
