Bread House
Record numbers again this week! Bags collected stayed high, but the Bags outset a record of 308! Also, we served about ten homeless folks this week, which was new to us. They can't have anything that needs cooking or refrigeration, so we focused on fruit and snacks. It was sad, as soon as they received a bag, they sat on the ground and started eating what was in the bag. One lady had her feet all bandaged up, and we were told she just came from the ER who bandaged her feet after she WALKED from Panama City to Ft. Walton Beach. When she arrived, her feet were all blisters. Another lady had a snack-size box of cereal she opened and started eating, and then she asked Terry if she could have some Milk. She was given a half a gallon of milk, she put it to her mouth and started gulping it, when she stopped, with milk running down the sides of her mouth, she told Terry she hadn't had milk for 9 years. We have stories every day of folks that need help, and the Bread House is one beacon of light for them. A special thanks to our team leaders, Janet, Sandra, and Donna, who help run the Bread House each day we’re open! And a shout out to Phil, who brings bread every day and Bill, who makes sure we have milk and eggs! It's truly a team effort!
