Welcome Matt!
Shalimar UMC welcomes a new pastor July 1st. Reverend Matt Langford officially begins as one of our Associate Pastors. Matt’s focus is to be the preaching pastor for our 11:07am service and of course he will be a one of our pastors for the whole congregation.
Matt is a recent graduate of Candler School of Theology, Emory University, and previously AUM in Montgomery. He grew up in Greenville, Alabama, and the First United Methodist Church of Greenville. He has served as Youth Director in his home church and at First United Methodist Church Montgomery. He comes to us after serving as pastor of the Hatchechubbee and Pittsview Charge.
Matt’s immediate plans include an engagement to be married. His fiancé is Anne Claire McNaughton. They plan to be married in January.
Matt officially begins July 1st. He will be introduced on July 5th in a special sermon. On July 12th, he will preach at all of our worship services. We will schedule a welcome event for Matt as soon as our restrictions from Covid-19 allow.
In the meantime, we invite you to welcome Matt with gift cards, notes, letters, and words of welcome. You can drop your gift cards, letters, and notes in the baskets in the FLC lobby & Narthex, in the box on the front porch of the parsonage (#8 2nd Street), or mail them to #8 2nd Street Shalimar, FL 32579. We are very blessed to receive Matt! Let’s show him a warm Shalimar UMC welcome! LET’S ROLL OUT THE WELCOME MATT!

I have heard Pastor Matt speak several times. He is one of the best speakers I've heard. He grabs and holds the attention of the congregation and is very good at getting the message across. I hope Matt will be with us for a very long time. Danna and I love Shalimar UMC. The entire staff is awesome. God Bless. Royce and Danna Franks.
