Since 2008, this mission has eased weekend hunger of children attending Shalimar Elementary and Meigs Middle School. The schools identify these children as high risk for food insecurity. Each Tuesday during the school year, our volunteers pack 65 bags containing two meals and deliver them to the schools. Knowing these children have food for the weekend is a huge comfort and often carries them over until their school lunches the following week.
The funding for this mission does not come from the church's annual budget. It comes from private donations from our church's incredible members over and above their annual giving. Should you feel led to help–donations are always accepted by contacting the church office or placing your gift on Sunday's offering plate.
